Ditch and Switch ~ Dryer Sheets

Dryer sheets seem to be the go to for people who want to soften their clothes, add a fresh scent, and reduce static cling.  What if I told you that dryer sheets and liquid fabric softeners were highly toxic?  They are a convenience, sure, and something that can be substituted just as easily with better healthier results.  An article from Scientific American states:  "some of the most harmful ingredients in dryer sheets and liquid fabric softener alike include benzyl acetate (linked to pancreatic cancer), benzyl alcohol (an upper respiratory tract irritant), ethanol (linked to central nervous system disorders), limonene (a known carcinogen) and chloroform (a neurotoxin and carcinogen), among others."

When striving to reduce the toxic load in your home, there is a simple substitute!  Wool dryer balls thrown in your dryer, not only soften clothes, but they also reduce drying time and static cling due to the constant friction, and add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil and you get the pleasing scent of your choice!  My favorite is purify.  It leaves your clothes smelling like they've been line dried...one of my most favorite things in the world.

Have you made the switch?  There's no time like the present!  If you have ditched and switched what is your favorite oil to use?
